Join us for our deputation to the council tonight: Wed 18th Nov 7pm

At the last minute we have been granted the request for another deputation to Lambeth Council about the Garden Bridge tomorrow night in front of all of Lambeth’s councillors. The 10,000 signature paper petition is also going to be presented by our ward councillor (even though our online petition goes on).
With all the shenanigans of recent weeks it is vital we get a good turnout in support. The strength of feeling in our deputation in July contributed to the Council’s decision to call a halt in September to negotiations on selling their land for the bridge. Unfortunately the Leader of the Council Lib Peck then succumbed to pressure from the other side, and is now back negotiating away your open space. But her flip flopping is not supported by many other councillors, and it is important that they build up the pressure on her not to allow the bridge. Our deputation will help persuade them to apply pressure. The town hall is being refurbished, so the Full Council meeting is on: Weds 18th November at 7pm Elmgreen school, Elmcourt Rd, London SE27. It’s a 2m walk from Tulse Hill station (direct trains every 15 mins from Blackfriars or Elephant take 13 mins, exit the Avenue Park Rd end, or take a 68 bus from Waterloo or a 2, 432, 415 or 196 from Brixton - get off at the old West Norwood Fire Station and walk back to Elm Court Rd). There will also be a deputation from the Friends of Lambeth Libraries (Lambeth are proposing to close Waterloo library and turn 3 others into gyms!), which will enjoy a large contingent of support, so be advised to get there just before 7pm. We are due to give our deputation at 8pm. Please spread the word far and wide, and we hope to see you tomorrow night!
