Lambeth Oversight & Scrutiny Committee allow maverick councillor's decision
Yesterday, Lambeth's Oversight & Scrutiny committee voted very narrowly 5-4, to uphold Cllr Jack Hopkins' decision to vary Coin Street Community Builders' lease to enable the Garden Bridge construction. It was a very impassioned evening and we were given a chance to speak i.e. 6 people: 2 minutes each, as well as our ward councillors saying their piece - which they did very well indeed.
Cllr Hopkins looked very uncomfortable as did Lambeth officers Sue Foster & Sandra Roebuck who gave Oscar winning performances on how to shamelessly lie to the public - egged on by their lawyer. Therefore it's time for us to talk very seriously to our lawyers.
Anyway, here is the whole meeting on YouTube: watch how democracy scores a massive fail within Lambeth council: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_hGZrKIHk6w
The committee had a chance to put things right by forcing Cllr Hopkins' to rethink his decision but they chose to simply give him a gentle rap on the knuckles and administer any punishment for future transgressions. What kind of weak message does that give out?
So please help us to take this to the high court; the corruption behind this vanity project is beyond belief: www.everyclick.com/tcos
Thank you for your continued support and we hope to see you at our public meeting on Mon 16th May at 7pm, St John's Church Waterloo SE1 8TY.
