Tree casualty on the South Bank

We were disturbed to see that a tree has fallen on the Garden Bridge site on the Queen's Walk, South Bank just outside ITV on the riverwalk. The Garden Bridge Trust can't start construction or disturb the trees until all of their planning conditions have been satisfied (which has still not happened) so we wonder if this poor tree has been the victim of a mindless attack, a freak accident of nature or if it has given up already?
Help us to reinstate this casualty before any more wonderful South Bank trees fall down: write to the leaseholder of the land Coin Street Community Builders and tell them to save the tree which is still very much alive. And please ask them not to allow the destruction of any trees on the Queen's Walk for the Garden Bridge. It is in their power to act on behalf of elected representatives and the community who overwhelmingly, do not want the bridge. Their executive director is Iain Tuckett i.tuckett@coinstreet.org.

You can also help by writing to London mayor Sadiq Khan mayor@london.gov.uk, even if you've done so before, and tell him not to sign the public guarantee that the Garden Bridge Trust needs in order to start construction. If he signs, he would be committing the public to ongoing costs of over £3 million per year for an unwanted private development. If the Garden Bridge Trust goes bust during construction, it would be taxpayers that would bail them out. This would not be a 'gift to London' or a legacy that anyone wants.
