A Tree Celebration on the South Bank

On Saturday 10th June, our Treedom Fighters Sinead and Corrine organised a tree blessing which was led by Revd Giles Goddard of St John's, Waterloo. The event highlighted the glorious London plane trees that line a leafy public right of way along the Queen's Walk on the South Bank - an extension of the WW2 memorial trees, planted all the way from the Royal Festival Hall to the London Eye.

Around 40 TCOS supporters attended and several visitors joined us as Revd Giles spoke of the importance of valuing our natural world without having to resort to destruction for the sake of unnecessary development - such as the Garden Bridge, which threatens to destroy the trees in order to build a huge commercial building on the site for Coin Street Community Builders who should be preserving the land for the community.

All people of all faiths and none, attended, as it was a celebration of all things bright, green, natural and beautiful, so many thanks to everyone who shared this special occasion with us.
